MISSION STATEMENT
The
mission of they CYBA is to provide children in the local area the opportunity to
learn and play the game of basketball, and to learn good sportsmanship.
Our approach is as varied as the number of volunteers that help administer the
program.. Some may focus on defense, some on offense, but we all should maintain
our focus on the qualities that will guide our children to successful
adulthood.
Winning
and success are wonderful rewards for hard work, however, let us not neglect the
lessons learned from losing and the strength of character it takes to do either
with dignity.
CYBA COACHES' CODE OF CONDUCT
As a
coach in the Camillus Youth Basketball Association, I support the CYBA Mission
Statement
and have received the CYBA Coaches' handbook, and agree I to adhere to
the following standards for conduct:
-
The CYBA is an instructional
league and as such the goal is teaching good sportsmanship and how to play
the game,
and not necessarily winning the game.
-
Each player will play at
least one full quarter and sit one full quarter in each game, and I will
attempt to give all equal playing
time beyond that requirement.
-
The use of profanity is prohibited
by anyone.
-
Arguing with referees,
spectators, etc. is prohibited.
-
I will be on time for
practices and arrive a few minutes early for games. If I am unable to attend
I will make arrangements for representation to avoid rescheduling.
-
No physical contact with participants
(other than an encouraging pat on the back).
-
Trash talking and taunting
will not be allowed and I will encourage players to be respectful of all
those participating in the program.
-
I realize that we are role
models and as such I will conduct myself with respect and common courtesy
for
others.
